One day, we, me and 5 of my friends got to enjoy my week end at Merapi-Merbabu tour. We just ride one small car, a Honda Civic Nouva. This small car so small and make us like in the can. Fortunately it has good Air Conditioning. The car belongs to my friend who drove this car and no one either in the car can drive cars.
We just take off from home at 13:00. The route we take from Magelang road, when you up to the turn to Borobudur temple, just straight on for about 1 km, and when arrived on Blabak city, you must turn right to get to Ketep-Selo-Boyolali resort. You will fell fresh when have get this country road, because as far you see, at our left or right, you just get rice farm and far away, you can see blue mountain as a painting of nature, so beautiful, especially if you’re urban person. Beside the road, the clearly water flow in the drain for the rice farm, so clean, maybe you need to stop to enjoy this fresh water to wash your foot or hand.
From Blabak, its about 10 km you will get the Ketep Pass, It’s a mountain resort that I have wrote before on this web. Still ride through for about 3km you would arrived at Kedungkayang waterfall, I have wrote either in Ketep Pass article. Continue the ride, for about 7 km next, we’ll drop to the mountain small city name Selo.
Selo is the start point to climb whether to Merapi’s peak or Merbabu’s peak. From this city, you’re just exactly in the center of the two mountains. You peep right you see Merapi, and you peep left you see Merbabu. There is tip of the asphalt road to the point nearest to Merapi, this point named New Selo. From New Selo you can see the top of Merbabu, and beautiful landscape beneath include Selo. You need powerfull vehicle to get this point. Our vehicle can get us up this point while we’re in. there just our driver in the car and this car still overheating. Don’t worry about communication, because you can get your cellular on at this area. Here built a building to take rest or just preserve from the rain which frequently down on this area.
The time was 16:30 and we decide to back home. But we decide to take rest a while at Ketep Pass and enjoy jagung baker, a baked young corn, in the afternoon, there just few people get to Kepet pass, because the mist usually down and disturb the visibility, but for some people it may increase the romantic nuance, he…he…he… but the most Important for us, we can get in the location without bought the ticket, it’s free…. In the afternoon/night. 19:00 after taste the corn, we decide got home because one of us get call to join the choir practice. The way home was dark, because the mist the visibility just about 10 meters. Way home we choose is by Muntilan city, different way from when we went up. While arrived at a place named Tlatar, we turn left, not straight on to Blabak. From Tlatar we past Talun, then Muntilan city, the point of junction to Magelang road. What a satisfied touring even though make us so tired.
