Wonogiri-Pacitan, part I

Last Saturday, November 17, 2007, the writer and 3 friends make a tour to wonogiri-pacitan by motorcycle. We start from sleman, jogjakarta by 4:15 pm. To avoid the traffic jam by PSS supporter (that day was the football game between PSS Sleman and PSIM jogja at Maguwoharjo Stadium), we choose the village road.

It’s fresh while you ride through the village south of merapi mountain in the afternoon. You won’t sniff much pollutant there, and the wind from the rice fields will caress your face and skin, the green of tress for your eyes, and smile of people there would be a bonus for your trip.

After long village road and many enjoyable turns, we decide to get on Solo road again and join at Prambanan point. We must join the busy road again, but it doesn’t take much time because we turn right after Sari Husada Milk factory and Get in village road again by Srowot railway station, Klaten.

But, before that, at east of Prambanan temple, we must find a repair shop, because my friend’s bike has broken its speedometer’s cable. So he want fix it before we continue our trip to Wonogiri-Pacitan. After second shop, we find mechanic to fix its problem. An old mmechanic helped to repair its problems. He’s the owner of its shop.

From this point we get to the east by rice fields beside its road to Wedi, a small town south of Klaten city. In Wedi market, we turn right then after Jami Mosque of Wedi, we turn left to Cawas. Before Cawas we cross the handicrafts village named Pager Jurang. Here, the handicraft center of terracotta, red earthenware vessels. This village known far away out of country, then a Japanese person built a laboratory of its unique technique of making the handicraft.

Not far from this village, there are two pilgrimages, one is catholic and the others are Muslim’s pilgrimage. The catholic pilgrimage is the devotion of Mother Mary, Grotto of Mother Mary. The Moslem pilgrimage is the grave of sunan Pandanaran, one of holy men who first brought Islam to Java. The two places just near, it’s not more than 1 km and before Cawas.

The next destination was karangmojo, manyaran, nguntoronadi, wuryantoro, eromoko, pracimantoro, giribelah, giritontro than girowoyo. The last place was Grotto of Mother Mary of Virgin. That’s the first destination of our tour, and would be a shelter for slept before second destination, Pacitan with its thousands of caves, and a beautiful beach teleng ria.
